How the "worth per litre" column is worked out. Flybuys and Everyday Rewards points are costed at 0.5c each — 2,000 points = $10 in store, the rate both programs publish. A dollar buys 0.415 litres at the current national ULP 91 average of 240.7c/L, which is what lets a points-per-dollar rate be compared with a cents-off deal at all. Qantas and Velocity show varies on purpose: neither publishes a fixed cash redemption, so their value depends entirely on how you redeem, and any single figure here would be invented.

The short answer
Points or cents off?

Cents off usually wins

A 4c/L discount is 4c/L, guaranteed, today. Most points offers convert to less than that once you cost the points honestly — which is why the discount is the default right answer unless a bonus rate is running.

Bonus rates flip it

The exception is a promotional earn rate. At the top of the table those clear the typical 4c/L discount comfortably — but they're usually capped, time-limited, or need you to pay through a particular app.

Sometimes it's a dead heat

Shell (Reddy Express) offers 4c/L off or 8 Flybuys points per litre. At 0.5c a point that's 4c/L either way — exactly the same. Take the discount, since it's certain.

The real gain is stacking

Fuel discount, program points and a card offer are separate things and often apply to the same fill. Working out which combination pays most at the servo nearest you is the job PointFarm does.
