Brisbane petrol price questions

What's the cheapest day to buy petrol in Brisbane?

Right now there isn't one. Our data for the last 72 days shows no regular cycle in Brisbane, and the ACCC says cycles have mostly not occurred in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide since late February 2026. Choosing a cheaper station saves more than choosing a day.

Does Brisbane have a petrol price cycle?

In 2025 the ACCC measured Brisbane's cycle at around 6 and a half weeks on average. Since late February 2026 it says cycles have mostly not occurred there. Our own data for the last 72 days shows no regular cycle.

Does diesel follow the petrol price cycle?

No. The ACCC says retail diesel and LPG prices do not move in price cycles; they follow wholesale costs. The cycle applies to unleaded petrol, including E10, 95 and 98, which tend to move together.

Where does this data come from?

Every price comes from the Queensland Government Fuel Price Reporting, which station operators must report to. Each day we take every Brisbane station's regular unleaded (ULP 91) price at about 7am and record the middle (median) price, so one very cheap or very dear station can't skew it.
